WRC recommends clearer workplace grievance procedures after antigen-testing dispute

The WRC recommended that an employer clarify and circulate its written procedures for bullying, harassment and grievances after a dispute involving a worker and his supervisor. The recommendation was dated 21 April 2023. The worker said his supervisor shouted at him after he declined regular antigen testing and that his complaint was not handled to his satisfaction. The employer said it had dealt with the issues and had not received a written bullying complaint. The WRC noted that the worker had not submitted a written grievance within the stated timeframe and that the supervisor had been spoken to about the interpersonal issue. It recommended that the employer clarify the procedures and circulate them to all staff.
