The Labour Court has upheld the decision rejecting Jack Cuddy’s complaint that Ballyfin Demesne Limited discriminated against him on gender grounds by paying him less than a female colleague doing like work. The determination was signed on 19 December 2025. Cuddy said his pay rise request was refused while his colleague received an out-of-cycle increase. The company said her increase reflected additional duties and exceptional service, and the Court accepted its explanation as credible and unrelated to gender. It noted that the lack of transparency around the increase had created a perception of unfairness, but found the complaint not well founded. Cuddy withdrew other appeals during the hearing.
