The Workplace Relations Commission ordered John Delahunty to pay Kristen Cavanagh €10,000 compensation after finding he discriminated against her on the housing assistance ground. The decision, by Adjudication Officer Thomas O'Driscoll, was dated 13 July 2026.
Cavanagh complained that Delahunty, her landlord, failed to complete documents needed for HAP and Rent Supplement. He denied discrimination, saying he had no objection to HAP and that personal circumstances and administrative difficulties caused delays. The WRC preferred Cavanagh’s documentary evidence and found that two HAP applications and a Rent Supplement application failed after required landlord cooperation or documentation was not forthcoming. It also directed Delahunty to cooperate with eligible housing support applications within six weeks of receiving the decision.
