WRC rejects HAP and disability discrimination complaint against Ray Cooke Auctioneers

The Workplace Relations Commission found no discrimination in a rental application involving housing assistance (HAP) and disability, rejecting Daithi O'Raithbheartaigh’s complaint against Ray Cooke Auctioneers. Adjudication Officer Breiffni O'Neill’s decision was dated 16 June 2026. O'Raithbheartaigh alleged that a request for employment-linked documents and unanswered requests for clarification effectively excluded him from applying for an advertised property. The agency said he was invited to the viewing, the documents were generally sought after viewings and the same requests applied to all applicants. The officer found the wording was careless rather than deliberately exclusionary and that the lack of replies did not establish discrimination. The complaint was not well founded.
