The Workplace Relations Commission found that Tulip Blinds Limited discriminated against Aine Geoghegan on pregnancy grounds and awarded her €5,000. The decision, dated 7 July 2026, also awarded her €320 for minimum notice, €332.80 in unpaid annual leave and €1,280 on each of two written employment-terms complaints.
Geoghegan said she had no performance warnings and was dismissed while on sick leave, after telling the company she was pregnant. The company said it ended her probationary employment over performance concerns and denied that pregnancy influenced its decision. The adjudicator found the dismissal took place without a meeting or a chance for Geoghegan to answer the stated concerns. The contract the company relied on was unsigned, and the adjudicator found the company's account lacked credibility.
