WRC does not recommend in favour of worker dismissed during probation

The WRC did not recommend in favour of a worker who said he was unfairly dismissed during probation as a hotel deputy general manager. The decision was dated 15 June 2026. The worker said he had received no formal probation review or warning and disputed responsibility for the performance issues cited when he was dismissed. The employer said it had concerns about his operational performance and had explored a management role for him at a smaller sister hotel. The adjudication officer found that the worker had no formal review, advance meeting or appeal, but accepted that the employer had genuinely assessed his suitability during probation.
