The WRC recommended that an engineering design company pay a worker €10,000 after finding he was unfairly dismissed following three weeks in the job. The recommendation was dated 27 May 2026.
The worker, a senior energy and sustainability engineer, said there had been no performance review meetings or opportunity to improve. The company said he had not met the expected level for a senior role and that his dismissal during probation was reasonable.
The adjudicator found the worker had no performance process or chance to improve and did not know his job was at risk until he was dismissed. The WRC said the lack of procedures made the dismissal unfair and recommended compensation.
