The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Bartlomiej Seweryn €650 after finding The Portlaoise Pantry Limited breached statutory rest-break rules. The decision was dated 11 March 2026. Seweryn, a kitchen porter, said she sometimes worked more than four and a half hours before receiving a break. The restaurant's owner agreed that breaks were delayed during busy lunchtime periods, although he said she received a 30-minute break after six hours. The WRC found breaches on 15 days. The law requires a break of at least 15 minutes before an employee works more than four and a half hours.
