WRC rejects John McDonnell’s unfair dismissal claim against Faneside Transport

The WRC has rejected John McDonnell’s unfair dismissal complaint against Faneside Transport, finding that he ended his employment by resigning. No award was recorded. McDonnell alleged he was told he was sacked during a telephone call on 17 March 2025. Faneside Transport said he became angry, resigned during the call and later called to say he had found another job. The adjudicator found the company’s account credible and said the later call supported it on the balance of probabilities. WRC Adjudication Officer Pat Brady’s decision was dated 12 December 2025.
