The Workplace Relations Commission ruled it had no jurisdiction to hear Lauren Phoenix’s discrimination complaint against Allied Irish Banks, finding it was filed outside the statutory time limit. Adjudication Officer Monica Brennan dated the decision 1 July 2025. Phoenix alleged discrimination under the Employment Equality Act 1998 and sought permission to proceed, citing delayed awareness of the WRC and personal circumstances. The bank argued the complaint was out of time. The WRC said the complaint was received on 18 December 2024, more than 12 months after her employment ended on 21 April 2023, beyond the maximum period allowed. It made no finding on whether discrimination occurred.
