WRC awards €2,600 after finding Declan Kane was unfairly dismissed

The Workplace Relations Commission (WRC) directed Mooney Milk Distribution Ltd to pay Declan Kane €2,600 after finding his unfair-dismissal complaint well founded. Adjudication Officer Monica Brennan’s decision was dated 11 April 2025. The company did not attend the hearing or provide submissions. The officer found the dismissal unfair because the employer had provided no evidence to establish that it was fair. Kane said he had lost €650 a week, but the officer found he had not established financial loss attributable to the dismissal; the award was equivalent to four weeks’ remuneration.
