Donegal Golf Club wins WRC disability complaint over buggy restrictions

Historic decision · Decision date:

Place: no local area assigned from the source.

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Donegal Golf Club did not discriminate against member Mervyn Walker over restrictions on using his personal golf buggy in adverse course conditions. The complaint was not well founded, and no award was made. Walker said the restrictions withdrew an accommodation that had allowed him to use a buggy year round. The club accepted that he had a disability and needed a buggy, but said limits were based on course conditions, safety and maintenance. The adjudicator found that buggy users were treated alike and Walker had not established less favourable treatment. The decision was dated 26 March 2026.
