WRC rejects Rafaqat Ali’s unfair dismissal complaint

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Rafaqat Ali’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Jallal Catering Limited, finding that he was dismissed because of redundancy. The decision was dated 9 October 2025. Ali alleged he was dismissed for complaining to the WRC Inspectorate about unpaid holiday pay. The company said it closed because of financial difficulties, and the officer found financial information supported that position and the business had permanently closed. The officer noted the employer had not acknowledged Ali’s redundancy entitlement after 21 years’ service, but said the complaint was brought under the Unfair Dismissals Act.
