The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Jijo Thomas €25,000 after finding that Gdc Media Ltd unfairly dismissed him through its redundancy process. Adjudication Officer Breiffni O'Neill dated the decision 24 March 2025. Thomas’s separate complaint under the Protection of Employment Act was withdrawn.
Thomas said consultation was inadequate and alternatives were not properly explored. The company said its QA structure was inefficient and the Technology department’s QA roles were redundant. The officer found no alternatives were presented, the selection pool was unfairly limited to Technology despite QA engineers in three other departments, and no appeal was offered.
