The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Alan Ecock’s unfair dismissal complaint, finding his dismissal by Allied Irish Banks Public Limited Company for gross misconduct proportionate. The decision was dated 4 February 2025. The bank said its investigation concerned Ecock’s secondary employment and his unauthorised access to an internal system to check his own account information and credit status. Ecock argued that the disciplinary process was unfair, including that he was not adequately informed of the allegations. The WRC found reasonable grounds for the bank’s belief that he had engaged in misconduct. His separate redundancy complaint was withdrawn.
