WRC refuses time extension on Vincent Carden’s employment complaints

The Workplace Relations Commission refused to extend the time limit for Vincent Carden’s three complaints against The Sims Clinic Limited, ruling it had no jurisdiction to adjudicate them. The decision, dated 21 March 2025, concerned complaints lodged one day after the six-month deadline. The complaints alleged unfair dismissal, breaches of protected-disclosure law and unpaid wages; Carden argued his dismissal procedures were not followed and a proposed salary revision was not backdated. The clinic argued the complaints were late and that his conduct had broken trust and confidence. The officer rejected Carden’s explanations for the delay, made no finding on the substance of the complaints and awarded no compensation.
