WRC rejects Mary Smith’s unfair dismissal complaint over fixed-term contract

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Mary Smith’s unfair dismissal complaint against Longford Community Resources Company Limited By Guarantee Edi Centre Longford (Cro 234249). The decision found that her employment ended when her fixed-term contract expired and that the contract’s exclusion of unfair dismissal protections could be relied on. No award was recorded. Smith said she had not been told that her post was covering another role and depended on funding for that role.
