The Workplace Relations Commission ordered Irish Heart Foundation CGL to pay Seamus Casey €1,363.12 in arrears and €15,000 compensation after finding age discrimination in equal pay. The decision, dated 3 November 2025, found Casey had established like work and that the foundation had not provided supporting evidence to justify his lower hourly rate.

Casey alleged age discrimination in his pay and working conditions and said he was forced to retire when his contract ended. The foundation said his contract extensions were voluntary and that newer roles involved broader duties and higher qualification requirements. The WRC rejected his complaints of age discrimination in conditions and dismissal, finding no supporting evidence for the conditions claim and that he had not applied for a contract extension in 2023.
