The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Timothy Maverley €2,500 for an annual-leave complaint and €2,500 for unfair dismissal. The decision, dated 12 December 2024, upheld both complaints against Noel Woods t/a Woods Financial Services.

The adjudication officer found the employer had not provided statutory annual-leave provisions and that Maverley was entitled to at least four weeks’ leave when his employment ended. On dismissal, Woods said Maverley had stopped producing new business and walked away; Maverley said he learned from an insurance company employee that he no longer worked for Woods. The officer found there was no resignation or dismissal letter and no disciplinary process, and that Maverley was unfairly dismissed. The officer cited Maverley’s significant contribution to the breakdown and no evidence of loss mitigation in setting the dismissal compensation.
