WRC rejects unfair dismissal complaint against Bus Eireann

The WRC found Clifford Darcy’s unfair dismissal complaint against Bus Eireann was not well-founded, because Bus Eireann had never employed him. The decision was dated 17 September 2024. Darcy accepted he worked for a contractor providing transport services to Bus Eireann, but argued that its code of conduct supported his claim that he had an employment contract with the company. The adjudication officer found he remained employed by another employer and that the complaint was misconceived. No award was recorded.
