The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Minodora Pit €750 in compensation after finding her public-holiday pay complaint against Les Byrne T/a El Vino well founded. Adjudication officer Thomas O'Driscoll said the amount represented four weeks’ pay and was just and equitable. The decision was dated 7 May 2024. Pit, who worked as a server, said she was denied 14 hours of public-holiday pay while the restaurant claimed she had been overpaid 47.25 hours. After she queried the calculation, the respondent admitted the overpayment claim was a mistake. The restaurant did not attend the hearing.
