The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Kacie Roberts’s constructive dismissal complaint against Smorgs ROI Management Ltd t/a Travelodge Ireland, finding the case had not been made out. The decision was dated 23 August 2024. Roberts worked as a housekeeper at a North Dublin hotel. She said her supervisor repeatedly criticised her and that the hotel failed to address her concerns, leading her to resign. The company said it had tried to resolve the issues, started a grievance investigation and invited her to reconsider her resignation. The adjudicator found no evidence of a fundamental breach of contract and said the evidence did not establish conduct serious enough to justify her resignation. He also found that the hotel had started a grievance process, paused it during her sick absence and invited her to reconsider. No compensation was awarded.
