The Workplace Relations Commission found Omar Hemdan’s equal pay, discrimination, harassment and victimisation complaints against Meica Consulting Engineers Limited were not well-founded. It made no monetary award. In a decision dated 30 September 2024, adjudication officer Bríd Deering found Hemdan had the same basic pay as his comparators but received a more favourable overall package, including family travel and medical benefits. Hemdan said his experience and family responsibilities warranted higher pay. The officer did not accept Hemdan’s allegation that a manager made a “typical Arab” remark. She also found the employer’s conduct after his dismissal did not amount to adverse treatment. Meica denied the claims. A complaint is not well-founded when the evidence does not establish the alleged breach.
