WRC rejects unfair-dismissal complaint over Gerflor redundancy

The Workplace Relations Commission rejected Tim Ross’s unfair-dismissal complaint against Gerflor Flooring Uk Limited Gerflor, finding the redundancy process fair. Adjudication Officer Niamh O'Carroll dated the decision 27 March 2025. Ross said consultation and the appeal process were flawed and that he was not offered suitable alternative work. Gerflor said its retail sales role had become redundant as the business shifted towards distribution. The adjudicator found a genuine redundancy, consultation meetings and an appeal opportunity. Ross’s separate payment-of-wages complaint about bonus pay was withdrawn after he accepted he had received the bonus due. No award was made.
