WRC dismisses race discrimination complaint over notification failure

The Workplace Relations Commission did not investigate Courtney Russell’s race discrimination complaint against Kilronan Castle Estate and Spa after finding he had not met a statutory notification requirement. The decision was dated 1 November 2024. Russell alleged discrimination in the provision of hotel services. The hotel denied discrimination and said the service failure was caused by New Year’s Day workload. Russell sent the hotel an ES1 notification after submitting his WRC complaint. The adjudication officer found the circumstances did not justify an exception to the notification rule. The merits were not decided.
