The Workplace Relations Commission declined to hear postal operative John Walsh’s complaint against An Post, finding it was out of time and that it lacked jurisdiction. The decision was dated 27 August 2024. The merits were not decided.
Walsh said he was transferred from Whitehall Delivery Office to Harmonstown Delivery Office in 2021 after raising health and safety concerns. An Post said its actions concerned alleged workplace wrongdoing and were unrelated to his complaints.
Walsh referred the complaint to the WRC on 4 December 2023. The commission found the alleged penalisation occurred in 2021 and ruled that the complaint was statute barred, so it could not hear it.
