The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Josh Healy €2,000 after finding Sharp Group Fire & Security Services, (Sharp Group Ltd.) breached his statutory daily rest rights. Adjudication Officer Lefre de Burgh’s decision was dated 3 July 2025. The officer preferred Healy’s evidence that shifts left him nine hours between finishing at 10pm and returning at 7am, below the required 11 hours; the company said he worked and was paid until 8pm.
Healy’s separate complaint about the refusal of an annual leave request was not well founded. He said a local holiday planner was established practice; the company said the request was not submitted through its company-wide system and HR had only two working days’ notice. The officer found the local and company practices differed but did not materially change his employment rights.
