WRC rejects two penalisation complaints against Gaffney Mechanical

The Workplace Relations Commission found two penalisation complaints by Zhihua Yuan against Gaffney Mechanical Limited were not well founded. Yuan said the company retaliated after he reported alleged wrongdoing and that his work permit was cancelled. The company denied employing or penalising him. In a decision dated 5 November 2024, the adjudicator found Yuan had never worked for, been employed or been paid by the company. She also found the alleged permit cancellation preceded his complaints, so they could not have prompted it. The six-month time-limit question was moot in light of those findings.
