The Workplace Relations Commission found a complaint by Rodger Gallahue against the HSE over public holiday pay was not well founded. In a decision dated 29 February 2024, it concluded that Gallahue had been paid in accordance with the law for the May and August 2023 holidays. Gallahue said he had not been paid appropriately for working the two holidays. He confirmed receiving 24 hours’ pay for 1 May and 16 hours for 7 August. The HSE said it had paid an additional 16 hours for the May holiday and an additional eight hours for the August holiday.
