The Workplace Relations Commission found that A Waiter’s complaints over public holiday pay and Sunday work were well founded and awarded €500 and €120 compensation, respectively. The decision was dated 12 March 2024. The complainant, who was a minor, worked for Casalattico Limited. The adjudicator found no evidence he had received a paid day off, extra annual leave or additional pay for the public holidays he worked. The respondent accepted that five hours worked on St Patrick’s Day 2023 had not been paid and that the wages were owed. On the Sunday work complaint, the respondent said the complainant received an extra 10 cents an hour from 18 May 2023. The adjudicator found no clear evidence of a Sunday payment and awarded €120 compensation.
