The Workplace Relations Commission found a Traveller community discrimination complaint not well founded after deciding that the security company named as respondent had been misidentified. The decision was dated 3 July 2024. The complainant alleged she was refused entry to a Hotel music function on 1 January 2023 because she is a member of the Traveller community. The company said it had not been engaged for the event and that the named guard had never worked for it. Hotel evidence supplied after the hearing supported the company's account. The WRC said the complainant had an opportunity to provide evidence in response but submitted none. Its decision concerned the named security company; it did not find that the Hotel itself discriminated.
