The Workplace Relations Commission found that Bus Éireann did not penalise driver and acting inspector Anthony Jacob for making a protected disclosure. In a decision dated 12 August 2024, the WRC found the complaint not well-founded and made no award. Jacob said he lost acting supervisory opportunities and was not trained on the AVL system after making the disclosure. Bus Éireann said his move to night shifts restricted access to daytime acting-up work. The adjudication officer found that practical rostering and cost issues explained the lack of those duties, and that the disclosure was not the operative cause.
