The Workplace Relations Commission found David Faherty’s protected disclosures complaint against The Royal Dublin Society not well founded after he refused to present his case at the hearing; the merits were not decided. The decision was dated 25 September 2023. Faherty sought an adjournment, saying he needed more time, documents and legal representation to pursue his claim that he had been penalised. The RDS opposed the request. The adjudicator said the alleged penalisation occurred in 2021 and that the complaint, submitted in June 2023, was outside the 12-month limit. After the adjournment was refused, Faherty declined to proceed.
