It also awarded him €720 for insufficient notice and €2,880 for not receiving a written statement of employment terms. The adjudicator found the company treated Brett’s failure to respond to correspondence as if he had chosen to leave, without following a dismissal process. The company had said he had been absent for an extended period and did not reply to its final letter. The adjudicator also found Brett substantially contributed to his dismissal by failing to engage with the company. His complaints about a duplicate written-terms claim, age discrimination and an earlier wages claim were not well-founded under the operative decision.
