WRC rejects Annie Dalton’s discrimination complaint against Waterford Leader Partnership

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Waterford Leader Partnership Company Limited By Guarantee did not discriminate against employee Annie Dalton in a decision dated 10 May 2024. Dalton had complained of discrimination on gender, age and disability grounds, as well as harassment and concerns about her employment conditions. Dalton said a proposed contract changed her employment from indefinite to a four-year fixed term and affected sick leave, her workplace and administrative support. She also raised concerns about pay and how she was treated over absences. The company said the changes reflected new funding arrangements and that employees faced the same limits on pay increases. The adjudicator found that Dalton had not shown an initial basis for inferring discrimination. She was not the only employee approached about contract changes, and the contract and sick-pay terms were the same or similar to those of other employees. Her complaint on gender grounds was withdrawn at the hearing; the age and disability complaints were not well founded.
