The Workplace Relations Commission found Aybars Bayram’s unfair-dismissal complaint well founded and ordered Starshine View Ltd. to pay him €680. It reduced the award by 75% after finding that his repeated lateness contributed to his dismissal.
Bayram worked as a doorman at Club Lapello, which Starshine View owned and managed. The company said he was dismissed for persistent lateness that disrupted the club’s opening and trade, and that he had been warned. Bayram accepted that he was sometimes late but disputed receiving warning letters and said he had no chance to answer specific allegations.
The WRC found there was no clear process giving Bayram an opportunity to respond before discipline was imposed. It calculated his loss at €2,720, then applied a 75% reduction because of his conduct, leaving compensation of €680. The decision was dated 8 November 2023.
