WRC recommends no action after agency worker declines alternative placement

The Workplace Relations Commission recommended no course of action after an agency worker's dispute over weekend overtime and the end of his placement. Adjudication Officer David James Murphy's recommendation was dated 5 January 2024. The worker alleged that the hirer let him go because he could not work weekends and said he was escorted from the warehouse in a humiliating way. The Employment Agency said he resigned after declining an alternative placement. The adjudicator found the hirer did not invite him back, but that the agency immediately offered him another placement, which he declined. He found the worker resigned without giving the agency a real opportunity to resolve his concerns, and found no merit in the complaint.
