The Workplace Relations Commission directed North West Roscommon Cdp Ltd to pay Sonia Walsh €7,085.40 for failing to give her the minimum notice required by law. The decision was dated 5 April 2024. Walsh began work as a Job Club Leader in 2007 and sought seven weeks’ notice pay. The company said it believed staff would transfer to a new service provider and maintained that a May letter gave notice. The adjudicator found that letter did not mention notice or termination. The company learned on 22 August 2022 that redundancies would occur, and Walsh received only one week’s notice. With more than 15 years’ service, she was entitled to eight weeks. The adjudicator accepted the company had acted with good intentions and had been misled about staff prospects.
