The Workplace Relations Commission ordered O'Shea & Murphy Building & Carpentry Contractors to pay Jerzy Wiecek €3,600 in lieu of six weeks' minimum notice. The decision was dated 29 August 2023. Wiecek said he worked as a labourer for €600 a week until the business ceased in March 2022. The respondents argued that a February 2022 note about cancelled jobs gave four weeks' notice. The officer found that the note did not amount to minimum notice. The WRC also found Wiecek entitled to one week's pay, €600, for accrued annual leave, and to statutory redundancy pay, subject to insurable employment. The decision lists his redundancy termination date as 24 October 2022, although his account says the business ceased on 24 March 2022. The operative decision groups complaints together, without stating a separate outcome for each reference.
