The Workplace Relations Commission found that A Government Department had not engaged in prohibited conduct in an Equal Status complaint about benefits. The decision was dated 24 April 2024. The complainant alleged that the department failed to administer benefits because of their membership of the Travelling Community. The complainant did not attend the hearing on 11 September 2023. The WRC refused an adjournment and found that sworn evidence from the complainant was needed to establish facts supporting a presumption of discrimination. The complaint was found not well founded after the complainant did not attend; the merits were not decided.
