The Workplace Relations Commission found Marina Ostroumova was not discriminated against in an interview for an accounts assistant role at Munich Re Automation Solutions Limited, although the adjudicator accepted she was asked where she came from. The complaint was not well founded because she had not established facts from which discrimination could be presumed.
In its decision dated 11 December 2024, the WRC noted her salary expectations were outside the role’s budget. The company said the question came after the formal interview questions and was not used in scoring; it said the successful candidate was more junior and within budget.
