The Workplace Relations Commission found that Poundland Ltd Dealz Tralee did not engage in prohibited conduct in a complaint by Rose O'Brien. The decision was dated 4 April 2023. O'Brien alleged that a store manager accused her of theft and barred her after she left the shop; the manager denied making the accusation or asking her to return inside. O'Brien complained of discrimination in the provision of goods and services on the Traveller community ground. The adjudicator accepted that she was a member of the Traveller community, but found her account inconsistent and concluded that it did not establish a sufficient presumption of discrimination. The WRC therefore found the complaint not well founded. A separate harassment claim raised in submissions but not on the complaint form was withdrawn.
