WRC says security officer's dispute was not a trade dispute under the Industrial Relations Act

The WRC did not recommend in the security officer's favour in an industrial relations dispute over alleged penalisation after a workplace grievance. The decision was dated 9 January 2023. SIPTU said the officer was moved to another site and lost a higher Sunday premium. The security company said its client required the officer and a colleague to work separately and that it offered alternative sites. The WRC found the dispute concerned the same facts as a separate claim under workplace safety legislation and did not meet the Industrial Relations Act's definition of a trade dispute.
