WRC recommends €250 for unfair treatment of security guard

The WRC recommended that an employer pay a security guard €250 after finding he was treated unfairly over work assignments. The recommendation was dated 10 January 2023. The worker said he had arranged cover after leaving his client-site post on 11 June 2021 and had sought time off. The employer said he left without authorisation and did not return. The WRC accepted that he had agreed his departure with a local supervisor and arranged cover. It found he was unfairly denied work after 13 June and that no phone call explained an alternative assignment.
