The Workplace Relations Commission found Matthew Carroll was unfairly dismissed by Novus Consulting Limited and ordered the company to pay him €2,028 in compensation, equivalent to four weeks’ pay. The decision was dated 5 December 2023.
Carroll said he was dismissed without notice in December 2021; the company said he had resigned. The adjudication officer accepted Carroll’s account that he had been told to go home and found the dismissal lacked both a fair reason and fair procedures.
The officer also ordered €507 in statutory notice pay. Carroll withdrew his public holiday complaint. His complaints about wages for two days and annual leave were found not well founded after he accepted he had been paid what was due.
