A Workplace Relations Commission adjudication officer could not recommend a higher subsistence payment for a paramedic because he was within eight kilometres of his base for part of the shift. The decision was dated 1 March 2023. The worker said he spent more than 10 hours away from base across two ambulance trips on 18 and 19 February 2021. The employer said tracking records showed he was within eight kilometres of base between the trips. Under the cited rules, the €36.97 rate required more than 10 hours beyond that distance.
