WRC recommends payment paperwork and mediation in nurse manager’s grievance

The WRC recommended completing paperwork for a worker’s colleague to receive higher duty pay and mediation between the worker and an Area Director, after it did not uphold her grievance appeal. The recommendation was dated 14 December 2022. The worker argued that the instruction to process the payment conflicted with recruitment rules and undermined her role. The health service provider said it had followed its grievance procedures and that the colleague qualified for the allowance. The adjudicator found the grievance had been handled under those procedures and did not accept that considering the allowance issue undermined the worker’s authority.
