The Workplace Relations Commission found a discrimination complaint against West Wood Club CLG Phil White not well founded after Colm Faherty did not attend the hearing. The merits were not decided.
Faherty alleged that club staff discriminated against him by asking him to wear a facemask despite his stated exemption. The club intended to defend the complaint. With no evidence from Faherty, the adjudication officer said no prima facie case had been made and was not satisfied that the club engaged in prohibited conduct.
The WRC decision was dated 4 April 2023. The Equal Status Act allowed compensation of up to €15,000, but the complaint failed after Faherty missed the hearing; the merits were not decided.
