WRC rejects Helen Collins’ age discrimination complaints against hotel

The Workplace Relations Commission found that Helen Collins was not discriminated against on age grounds by Xiu Lan Hotels Limited. Her complaints followed an application for a housekeeping job and an allegation that the hotel changed the proposed contract because of her age. The adjudicator preferred the hotel’s evidence and found Collins had not established a prima facie case: the basic facts needed to support an inference of discrimination. The decision was dated 25 October 2023.
