The Workplace Relations Commission awarded Richard Fox €8,000 compensation for unfair dismissal and €1,255.38 in notice pay in a decision dated 25 September 2023. It also found his other complaints not well founded. Fox worked as a car park attendant, and his employment ended on 1 September 2021. He said he was dismissed by whichever company took responsibility for the car park service. Pillardale Ltd argued that no transfer of employment had taken place and that Fox remained employed by the previous operator. The WRC found that the service transferred to Pillardale, which was responsible for Fox’s dismissal. It said he had been summarily dismissed without cause or procedure. Fox received €8,000 compensation and four weeks’ notice pay, valued at €1,255.38. The decision found his safety, redundancy, transfer and other listed complaints not well founded; several were not pursued at the hearing.
